Artist FAQ

Backline:  At a minimum, we will provide sound production, drums (with cymbals and pedal - just bring your sticks) and bass amp and one guitar amp at all stages (not including Artie Sandtone - solo / duo set up only).  If you need more than one guitar amp, please bring it.  We have arranged special backline for the headliners and out of town acts.

Board Feeds:  Sorry, we will not be providing board feeds for recording.  You are allowed to record your set with room sound.
 

Video:  You are allowed to record video, but tripods are discouraged due to space constraints.
 

In Ear Monitors: In-ear systems are discouraged due to the time involved to set them up.  If you insist on bringing an in-ear system, you only have a 15 minute window to set up.  If you start late, we will not extend your set time.  Keep it simple!

Artist Packets include:
*  3-Day Fest wristbands (one for each artist).  These do not provide access to the Late Night shows, but we will do our best to let you into these shows after the ticketed guests are admitted.  Please be patient.
* Parking guide, Schedule, FAQ, etc.

Artist Info Packet Pick Up
Days BEFORE the Fest - Pick up your Packet at RMP Warehouse (Mon 10/13 - Thurs 10/17 Noon to 7pm)
Days of Your Fest Performance - Pick up the Packet at the Your Venue
One person from each band, picks up the packet with ALL of the wristbands (1 per band member)
Early pickup helps avoid last-minute stress and keeps your focus on performing and supporting the event.

Your Schedule
* Arrive at the Fest two hours before your set
* Arrive at your venue one hour before your set
* Your Set is 45 minutes with a 30 minutes for each change-over between sets.
* Please exit the stage quickly at the end or your set so the next band can load.

Social Media Toolkit:  Here are graphics and text samples that you can use to promote you and the festival!  We need your help to make the Festival a success.  Please post often.

Age Policies: We follow the age policies established by each individual venue.  Check Venue's web sites for Age policies.

Parking: We encourage you to carpool and use rideshare services.  You are welcome to park at the Roots Music Project warehouse located at 4747 Pearl Street, Suite V3A, Boulder CO 80301.
We also encourage you to use the City of Boulder Parking garages.  Here are the rates:
 

Friday

• 3pm to 7pm = $3 flat rate

• After 7pm free

 

Saturday and Sunday

• Free all day.

 

This weekend free parking policy applies to all main downtown city-owned garages, including those on Walnut, Spruce, and Pearl streets. Be sure to confirm that the garage you choose is city-owned, as privately owned garages may have different rules and fees.

Rooms for traveling artists: Do you have an extra room for traveling artists?  If you are interested in hosting a traveling artists during the Festival, please let us know.  

Guest Passes:  We are not providing guest passes.  Please encourage your guests to purchase a ticket and support this awesome Festival.

Artist Pay:  We strive to compensate all artists with a “fair wage”.  Boulder Roots Music Fest is produced by Bear Roots, Inc., a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. 

Most pay is structured as a guaranteed base plus a social media bonus.  Pay for most artists is a structured rate based on categorization as a “band”, “solo / duo” or “EDM” artists.  In addition to cash pay, all artists receive a three-day festival wristband for each band member (non transferable).  

How to Get Paid:  We will be sending links to sign your contract soon.  you must sign the contract in order to be paid.  We will be sending links to Melio pay service soon.  You will be paid your base pay within 10 business days of the end of the Festival.  See pay info for the Social Media Bonus below.

Social Media Bonus: Immediately following the festival, we will email a form link.  The artist will report the URL of a minimum of four social media posts they made on their band or personal social media accounts.  The social media bonus will be paid within 45 days after the festival by submitting the links.
